With Black Friday, Christmas and New Years around the corner, brands need to be acting fast, if they haven’t already got a plan for their social media marketing.
Every day, there are more and more people following brands on social media for various reasons. These include to see products, look at new ranges when they launch, getting ideas for gifts and much more.
If you aren’t publishing high quality engaging social posts to convert sales then you may not do as well as you hoped, lucky for you, there’s still just about enough time. Below are some social media marketing tactics to help you skyrocket your holiday sales if done effectively.
1 – Cover / Header Image
Updating your cover/header image on your social media profiles with a specific themed image is the perfect opportunity to announce you have new products, promotions and deals, giveaways etc. Of course, it also shows you are celebrating Christmas and therefore your followers may be interested to know what you are doing for the holiday.
As you can see below, Bath & Body Works have a Christmas themed header image to announce they have released their festive products which are available to buy. Their image is clear and not too full on saying “GO BUY OUR STUFF”. It’s a gentle message telling you they are also celebrating the festive time with their new products, giving you “The Perfect Christmas”.
2 – Using Hashtags
Hashtags are great, for many reasons and the best of all, they are free to use! So, if you aren’t already using hashtags in your social posts, what an earth are you doing? Hashtags certainly help you reach a larger audience and increase engagement.
For your holiday social posts, you should identify some successful hashtags. Keep in mind, hashtags are more likely to be searched on both Twitter and Instagram. Social media users may decide to use a hashtag to find future purchases. Some great hashtags to use for the upcoming holidays are: #blackfriday, #Christmas, #NewYears, #Holidaysales, #ChristmasSale.
3 – Holiday Graphics, Videos and GIFs for Promotions and Deals
Images and videos perform much better than standard social posts without any engaging content. Create eye-catching festive images, videos and GIFs to grab people’s attention and draw them in close to view your deals. If they like what they see, they may go ahead and purchase.
4 – Personalised Direct Messages
Depending on how big your social media profiles are and the size of the team who manages them, you may find sending out personalised direct messages to be a success.
No. I don’t mean those automated spam ones, I mean the real targeted engaging ones.
For example, if you run a cake shop, you may send a message to your followers saying “Hey <First name>, how’s your Wednesday going? Just thought we’d let you know we’ve released our delicious festive cakes, would you like to see them?”
A direct message like that can be a huge success. How? Because it’s personalised, you are mentioning their name, the day, and also asking a question, you haven’t gone up front and said “here’s our new cakes, go buy them!”. You can use a tool like Audiense to mass message specific followers.
You could even add a little festive joke, quote or something that could make them remember you.
5 – Free Delivery
Everyone loves it when they can buy something online and it comes with free delivery. Sometimes, that little £3.99 delivery charge can put a potential customer off, it’s happened to many people, including myself. I’ve gone to a competitor and bought from them as it was free delivery.
So, maybe think about offering free delivery for your holiday products, and make sure you promote it on your website, social media profiles, and your email newsletters. Free delivery can be a huge win over your competitors, especially if the product is a quite pricey!
If you can’t offer free delivery for all products, consider making it available for orders over a certain amount, for example, £50 or more.
Again, you can use the tools mentioned above to create eye-catching images announcing your free delivery.
